Hate by Fanni Suto

Dark rain falls on the crawling city streets,

it soaks you to the skin and fills the gutters of your heart

It covers everything.

Dark rain.

Love hides in the corners; it hides behind your eyes

in your mind where dirty secrets lie.

You just cannot stand it anymore. Hate.

It’s in the letters of the newspaper and the white spaces between

The screen of your TV and in places you’ve never been

and will never get to.

Fear not. It’s close to home

in the heap of socks

unwashed dishes,

unheard wishes,

half-eaten apples,

among the falling steps of

procrastination.

Run as far as you wish,

but you can never hide.
