Indebtedness by Megan Mealor

but who else ferried you psalms, chanted you architecture
beneath an altarpiece abstraction of longitude
crinkled waterfall whisking white dwarf stars

and who let you dictate the heliotropes
grass jewels lolling like cross-knit ballerinas
the boisterous, broidered dance of mute swans

you used to dawdle by the pink lemonade petunias
rampaging your monogrammed mailbox
wringing the wolf moons from your veins
