On the ground is an empty plastic skin
from a tube of sausage,
as though someone ate
the raw meat inside
like a candy bar
and carelessly discarded the wrapper
as a matter of course.
There is probably
a saner and more likely explanation,
but the world has become stranger
than it used to be.
It may require a new kind of logic.
