A Question for Cheryl by Jim Stewart

I should have knelt
in the street,
put my head in your lap,
and let you stroke my hair.
But we didn’t know.

We were ten.
Would you have grown
into a woman who found
a cure for what killed you?
Is that why it killed you?
Would we have become
best friends again and again?

If I had known
that a lifetime later
I would still feel what I feel,
I would have knelt in the street,
put my head in your lap,
and let you stroke my hair.

  1. I read this over and over. This is truly beautiful Jim. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world. You are a deep thinker. The music in your soul allows you to deliver a clear and emotional message. Never stop, and thank you.❤️

  2. Really beautiful Jim, and intriguing. David agrees but we haven’t been able to agree on the whole story. Also, the art is gorgeous.
    Thanks for this one.
