The Island, 1923 by Steve Denehan

Everything is muted
the landscape
the sky

the people
in their dull clothes
with their dull faces

they walk
slowly
to the pub

they walk
slowly
from the pub

each day walking, to talk
to the same people
about the same things

there is a boat
that sails from the island
to the mainland

each day
and each day
it is empty
