Cell Phone by Antonia Alexandra Klimenko

My cell phone keeps me company
It takes me everywhere
It won’t leave home without me
It’s glued to my left ear

I’m really lost without it
I don’t know who I am
I hope to recognize me
when we Zoom or video cam

Ring just once   and then hang up
so I know just who you are
If I don’t ring back   right away
you know you’ve gone too far

Am I in   or am I out
Am I truth    or fiction
Whisper sweet nothings in my ear
I’ll make you my addiction

You can shelve a book
neglect a look   But
why watch Netflix   on TV
when you can stare
at your own cell-f
for an E-ter-ni-ty

A blank screen   is all I need
to watch my empty mind
which is why I never call me
and why I’m going blind

My bell phone  my hell phone
my prison   my cell
If any of this rings true with you
please! send me an email
